"Flow of life"
Material: Acrylic paint and resin on canvas
Hand and laser cut cardboard
6 x Digital photographs
Rationale:
For my Body of Work, I have created a range of expressive forms around the investigation of the artistically picturesque world of microorganisms. I have chosen to explore this concept as I believe our micro scientific world is spectacular and its qualities are worth sharing with the world. As Monet drew attention to the ever changing light on water lilies I wish to draw the audience's vision to what has been hidden from their natural sight. The artwork is also influenced by artists, Fiona Hall and Rogan Brown. Hall's art echoes the workings of the natural world and Brown innovatively attempts to conflate the world of science with that of art. From a viewer's perspective, I hope as the conceptualist, to change their thoughts on the scientific world and really be able to open their minds to the magnificence and beauty of the colours and structures of our smaller scale world.
